The volcano Irazu is close to San José and you can get there by a public bus. Nice spot and gorgeous coloured craterlakes. If the weather is good (no clouds) you can see both oceans, Atlantic and pacific, from the peak. I didn't because it was to cloudy. Entrance fee is 16$ and a little bit to much, but it's really nice up there.
After a one hour walk to the rock you reach Playa Penca which is much more beautiful than Playa Hermosa. But there are no stores or anything. I was completely alone for almost an hour. Sooo nice! And totally worth the one hour hike up the rock. Much better than the large beach with loads of tourists.
Short trip with the bike to the next stunning beach
Perfekt spot for the sunset just a few minutes away from Samara
Beautiful beach, nice people, good bars... Everything you need to enjoy life
Beautiful spot...special feeling standing on the sandbank with waves breaking on the left- and righthand side close to you
Nice NP but very touristic. The viewpoints are great and I saw two sloths, so that was great. But there are so many people around who wants to sell stuff...
One of my Highlights so far
San José is the capitol of Costa Rica - not very beautiful but worth a closer look
